Honeymoon

For our Honeymoon Jack's parents gave us and amazing trip to Jamaica.

The resort
Bedroom
We stayed seven days in a Butler suite at The Jewel Dunn's River Falls all-inclusive resort. it was beautiful there.

The room: Beautiful. Spacious. 2 balconies. A bar that was free and always stocked. A jacuzzi tub. Need I say more? Oh, and every night they would turn down the bed and there would always be a cool animal made out of towels and a design made out of flowers.

The Amenities: 2 pools, 1 with a pseudo waterfall and the other with a piano bar. A pier. A good size beach. A spa. A dance club. A stage. A life size chess board...  We rotated between the beach and the pool most days. The pool was nice because there was a swim up bar. I could read my book (Fifty Shades of Grey) in the pool and just grab a drink whenever I chose. The beach was nice too though. There were cabanas all along the beach you could sit in. The water was clear so you could see the fish at your feet and keep an eye out for sharks : / Didn't see any, thank goodness. The spa was nice too. Jack and I enjoyed our first couples massage there. It was very nice and relaxing.
The Food: There were 6 restaurants, I think. The cafe, the pizza bar, an italian restaurant, a japanese steakhouse and 1 upscale dining option. Jamaica is known for jerk chicken and let me tell you, Jack and I are still talking about it. We frequented the cafe and pizza bar mostly because we loved the jerk chicken wraps and jerk chicken calzones. They were amazing!
At night we usually ate at the italian restaurant because they had these amazing crab stuffed mushroom caps. So yummy. Although, one night we did go to the Japanese steakhouse for dinner. Met a few nice couples, 2 of which were returning back to the resort for their 20th anniversaries. Kinda cool. Guess Jack and I will have to start saving if we plan to go back for our 20th.

It was a wonderful trip. Beautiful. Quiet. Relaxing. Fun.

Thank You Jan & Wendell!

For my love

A Thousand Years
by Christina Perri

Hearts beats fast. Colors and promises. How to be brave. How can I love when I am afraid to fall. But watching you stand alone. All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.

One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you, Darling don't be afraid I have loved you, For a thousand years. I love you for a thousand years.

Time stands still, beauty in all she is, I will be brave, I will not let anything take away, what's standing in front of me, Every breath, Every hour has come to this.

Once step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you, Darling don't be afraid I have loved you, For a thousand years, I love you for a thousand more.

And all along I believed I would find you, Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years, I love you for a thousand more.

The Decorations

The wedding was set out on the beach. We wanted to have a very simple and short ceremony so we didn't go crazy with the decorations. We went very simple but elegant. Carolina Events and Tents are really the ones that made this wedding as beautiful as it was. I went to multiple vendors in the area and Amanda was always on top of her game and extremely helpful. I felt like the options were unlimited. Everything I wanted they were able to supply. I wanted a chuppah with fabric and sashes and... a chandelier, I wanted chairs with sashes, I wanted purple uplights in the ballroom and so on. I never heard Amanda say that they couldn't do it.
There was a very long pier leading to the beach and I new that it would cost a lot to decorate it. Luckily while shopping for this wedding I ended up with a lot of tissue paper from TJ Maxx and Homegoods so during a girls day of pampering those of us that were in line to be pampered cut out almost 100 paper flowers to line the pier with. A big thanks to Denise, Savannah, Lillian, Leah, Jan, Trish, and my Mom for all their help on this.

The colors of our wedding were to be purple and yellow but as the wedding decorations starting coming together it ended up a very purple wedding. I love sunflowers so that pretty much was the burst of yellow that appeared in the ceremony as well as the venue.

The gift items we went with were very simple. We tried to find items that held meaning to us. I love elephants so of course our place card holders were elephants, we had jacks on the table to signify Jack, there were romantic movie quotes printed on a small piece of linen since we love movies and finally a small tin of culinary grade lavender just because I love the calming smell and the beautiful color that lavender gives off.

A sketch I drew of the cake that we wanted : )
Finally, the cake! This is the main decoration. It took Jack and I a long time to come to a decision about our cake. I wanted a cake with ruffles and flowers and he wanted absolutely no flowers anywhere and simple. Once he said simple I knew that meant no ruffles. I was totally at a loss. Luckily we found Myra from Incredible Edibles in Murrels Inlet, SC. We went through all the cakes she had made and found one very similar to our final product that we both loved. I didn't get my cool 3D flowers that I wanted on the cake but I found a cake stand that had one : ) so it worked out. To top it all off, Kermit and Miss Piggy were out cake toppers. We love the Muppets and it just seemed fitting they they would be the ones on top of our cake.

The Flowers

Chuppah flowers
Aisle flowers
Bride Bouquet
Maid of Honor bouquet
Two weeks before the wedding the florist that I was going to use called and told us that the flowers that she quoted us were unavailable. I wanted the flowers that I wanted and chose to call around to find another florist, as I did not appreciate the first florist waiting until two weeks before my wedding to tell us she could not get the flowers that she quoted. I truly believe that situations like this arise not only to challenge us but they also happen because somewhere in the unknown there is a knowledge that there is something better around the corner. Kelly from Little Shop of Flowers was absolutely amazing. Her vision is spectacular. I had a vision of what I wanted and she made it so much more beautiful than I ever imagined. Thank you Kelly!!!!

Our wedding

June 2, 2012
After 9 happy years we finally tied the knot! It was absolutely beautiful.
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson

Our rings

There was never any question for either of us that this was what we wanted. Oddly, we were somewhat concerned that we did not get the jitters. I guess after nine years you just don't get them. All I can say is that for me, I couldn't wait to walk down that beach to Jack. It was the  best day of my life.

The wedding party
We got married at Kingston Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, SC.  The wedding was on the beach and the reception was in the Lands End ballroom of Brighton Tower. The weather was amazing and for the wedding being in June we had a breeze that wasn't windy enough to mess with any of the decorations but cool enough to not cause me or anyone else to overheat. Thank goodness! For those of you looking for a venue in the Myrtle Beach area, I recommend Kingston Plantation. Ask for Megan.
